Breast lifts rejuvenate and restore sagging breasts by removing excess skin and tightening supporting tissues. Breasts will be lifted higher on the chest and will be firmer, tighter and display a more youthful contour. Breast lifts can also reposition or reduce the size of the areolas (the dark skin around the nipple) which may have stretched or drooped.
There are several different types of Breast Lift surgery (Mastoplexy), and our goal is not to match Bellevue patients to procedures but rather craft an approach that will deliver the results you are looking for.
Many patients opt to have a breast augmentation performed in conjunction with their breast lift procedure to achieve the look and feel they desire. In most cases, adding implants does not increase or adversely impact the normal breast lift recovery timeline.

In some cases, particularly for patients with larger breasts that are sagging, a combination breast lift/breast reduction can provide more youthful and natural looking results than a breast lift alone.
Except in rare cases, Dr. Min does not recommend non-surgical breast lift procedures (often involving Botox injections), as the results are generally not as long-lasting or aesthetically pleasing as surgical lifts.
All breast lifts require incisions, and patients can expect some degree of visible scarring. However, there are several techniques for minimizing scars by hiding them around the areola or under the breast. Dr. min will discuss these and other post-op techniques for minimizing visible scars. The shape and size of your incision will be determined by a number of factors, including:
“Donut” or Small Incision Mamoplexy: Generally recommended for patients with small breasts or minimal sagging. This procedure involves creating two concentric incisions around the areola, removing excess skin, and joining the two incisions at the edge of the areola.
This is the most common incision type. In addition to the incision around the areola, another incision is made downwards from the bottom of the areola to the crease where the breast meets the chest.
In addition to the “Lollipop” Incisions, the surgeon will make a half-moon-shaped incision at the bottom of the breast, forming an anchor shape and allowing for the removal of additional excess skin for patients with excess skin or unsupported breasts.
Our approach at Newvue is to always put our patient’s safety above all other concerns. We have invested in state-of-the-art tools, and our on-site surgical suite is one of the first in the region to be fully approved under the stringent new safety standards.
Nonetheless, we feel it is important that all our patients fully understand the risk(s) associated with this or any surgical procedure. The most important thing to know is that Dr. Min and Newvue will stand by you should any complications arise and do everything we can to help you achieve your desired result. Risks associated with Breast Lift surgery include possible reaction to anesthesia, infection, asymmetry, or deformation. During your initial consultation, Dr. Min will address all possible risks and complications with you and make sure that your questions and concerns are answered.
Prior to your surgery, we will schedule a preoperative appointment with Dr. Min. The purpose of this meeting is to make sure your procedure goes smoothly and efficiently. Our staff will review the risks and benefits of the procedure, as well as your consent forms, and answer any questions you might have. You will be given your prescriptions to be filled prior to your surgery. You will be given a list of medications and supplements to avoid for two weeks before and after surgery. If you are a smoker, you will be advised to stop smoking at least two weeks prior to surgery. You should not smoke for at least two weeks following surgery.
We will do everything in our power to help you feel informed and relaxed on the day of your procedure. After you arrive, you will meet with Dr. Min and with your anesthesiologist. Once any questions you have are answered, you will be given medication to help you relax.
You will be brought into the surgical suite, where you will be prepped for surgery and given a general anesthetic. Surgery usually takes 2-3 hours.
You will wake up in the recovery room, where you’ll be closely monitored. We will let you know how everything went and advise you on what to expect as you recover. You’ll want to be sure to arrange for someone to pick you up and stay with you for the first couple of days as you adjust.
You’re still our patient after you leave, and we will be there for you as you recover to answer any questions you may have and advise you on any side effects you may be feeling. You can expect to feel tired and sore after the surgery, and you will experience some swelling and discomfort at the point of your incision, both of which can be managed with medication.
Light activity is encouraged during your recovery, and you can resume regular, non-strenuous activity after a few days of rest. You should avoid strenuous activity or heavy lifting for at least 2 weeks and avoid high-impact activities (skiing, wakeboarding, contact sports) for the duration of your recovery (6-8 weeks). Your stitches will dissolve and be absorbed by your body, so you will not have to worry about getting them removed
